The Peñasco Theatre Collective Summer Youth Interdisciplinary Arts Workshop is a community outreach program offering a low-cost, high-quality interdisciplinary arts experience to a diverse and inclusive group of area youth.

Through creative exploration, physical and skills development, group negotiation and dialogue, students and PTC Artist/Educators collaborate in a one or two-week circus-based arts workshop culminating in a free public performance. This workshop connects artistic expression with social responsibility toward the community. Youth choose a local environmental or social issue “theme” for each camp, which then permeates the activities, public art component, and final performance.

A variety of artistic mediums are represented; aerial (trapeze, rope, hoop, and fabric) physical theatre (clowning, juggling, acro-balance), poetics (writing and performing), visual art (painting and puppet making, folk and fabric arts), gardening, and dance (flamenco, hip-hop and other movement based disciplines). Past themes have included permaculture, water, fire, generational differences, nutrition and nurturing, bees, biodiversity and plant medicine.  With the exception of guest teachers, all artist/educators are local working artists.

July 10- July 14th, Monday thru Friday, from 10am to 4pm. , 2017

Peñasco Theatre Collective is proud to present a one-week summer interdisciplinary arts workshop extravaganza for teens ages 13-18. Participants will learn skills in stilts, aerials, visual art, theatre, acrobatics, and more!

We know that aging out of something really important is a difficult process but we want to provide both the teens and younger youth the opportunities to engage the program in ways that benefit them based on their needs and experience.

Due to high attendance in our two-week camp we are highly encouraging youth ages 13-18 to attend this workshop. Attendance in the two-week camp is not guaranteed, and will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Space priorities for the two-week camp will be given to participants 12 and under. Or at staff discretion. If you’ve applied for the two-week camp please resubmit your reg. form for the teen workshop.

This year’s dates: July 10- July 14th, Monday thru Friday, from 10am to 4pm. This is not a sleepover workshop. This is not a drop-in camp. All participants are required to come every day.

In an attempt to make the registration fees more equitable, this year we are trying something new! We are instituting a sliding scale registration fee between $80 – $500. We ask that you submit your teen’s registration fee based on where you land on that sliding scale using the formula of 10% of your two-week take home income
